The City selected Wade Trim and David Nelson Construction to design and build the project. Wade Trim/David Nelson Construction has assembled a top-notch design-build team with specialized expertise to successfully design, permit and construct the Southeast Seminole Heights Flooding Control Project.
David Nelson Construction will lead the design-build approach, a collaborative process designed to improve project team communications, streamline the design and construction process, and shorten the overall project duration.

Founded in 1972, David Nelson Construction Co. is a multi-discipline contracting firm specializing in commercial buildings, heavy highway construction, site work and underground utilities in the Tampa Bay area. David Nelson Construction will install the pipes, box culverts, water mains, fire hydrants, transportation upgrades and other components of the Southeast Seminole Heights Flood Relief project.
With roots tracing to 1926, Wade Trim is a national engineering firm with extensive experience in water, wastewater, stormwater and transportation design for municipalities. The Detroit-based firm has 21 offices throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. As the lead engineer, Wade Trim will design the stormwater conveyance system, replacement water mains and transportation upgrades.
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) manages the water resources for west-central Florida. Its mission is to protect water resources, minimize flood risks, and ensure the public’s water needs are met. SWFWMD is co-funding the first $1 million initially for the Southeast Seminole Heights Flooding Relief Project, and upon review of the preliminary design, may elect to co-fund all stormwater related costs.
