Construction to Begin Nov. 1, 2021

Construction crews will begin work on the Southeast Seminole Heights Flooding Relief Project on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021. Work will take place in Southeast Seminole Heights, Old Seminole Heights and South Seminole Heights, with construction beginning simultaneously in three locations:

  • Hillsborough River outfall – Haya Linear Park
  • Crest Avenue
  • Central Avenue between Hillsborough Avenue and Caracas Street

Crest Avenue will be closed to thru traffic from North River Boulevard to North Highland Avenue. Northbound Central Avenue will be closed from East Caracas Street to Hillsborough Avenue. Traffic on northbound Central Avenue will be detoured at East Osborne Avenue to Florida Avenue and Nebraska Avenue.

Also in November, construction crews will be digging up and verifying utilities on Crest Avenue, on Caracas Street between I-275 and Taliaferro Avenue, and other various locations. Additionally, crews from Tampa Electric, Charter/Spectrum and Frontier will begin relocating utilities at North Taliaferro Avenue and East Caracas Street in advance of pipeline installation.
