Tunnel Under I-275 Completed

The tunnel boring machine that launched last week will complete tunneling under I-275 today. On Monday, April 11, a large crane will be brought on to Caracas on the west side of I-275 to retrieve the tunnel boring machine from the receiving pit.

Crews will continue to work on Caracas on both sides of I-275 and on Taliaferro to seal the pipeline, demobilize and temporarily restore the intersection of Taliaferro and Caracas. In the coming months, crews will install a 72-inch diameter stormwater culvert on both segments of Caracas.
