North Central Ave Closed to Thru Traffic from Paris to Hillsborough
Beginning as early as March 1, North Central Avenue will be closed to thru traffic between East Paris Street and East Hillsborough Avenue for water and stormwater utility construction. Crews will begin installing watermain between E Hillsborough and E Hanna avenues and storm pipe from E Comanche Avenue to E Hanna Avenue. This closure will last approximately 13 months, depending on weather and underground conditions. Residents can expect to see and hear active construction 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday – Friday. Some Saturday and night work may occur.
Northbound traffic on Central Avenue will be detoured at Hillsborough Avenue to Florida and Nebraska avenues. Southbound traffic on Central Avenue will be detoured at Hanna Avenue to Florida and Nebraska avenues.
This construction will require multiple passes on Central Avenue. Residents can expect excavations in front of their homes up to eight times for utility relocation and pipeline installation. Driveways will be impacted for three to five days with each pass; residents will need to park on a nearby side street when homes are blocked. Residents will receive notice via door hanger the day before driveways are blocked. Access to homes on streets between Central Avenue and I-275 will be maintained, but the direction to and from may change.
Residents with disabilities or who simply need extra help accessing homes during construction may call the project hotline at (813) 508-5313 to arrange accommodations for accessing homes during construction.
Mail and parcel delivery, trash and recycling will continue without interruption.
Please follow all posted detours and use caution in the construction zone.
