New Detour Pattern for Florida Avenue Closure; Team Watching Tropical Storm

Northbound traffic on Florida Avenue is detoured at Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue to Nebraska Avenue because of FDOT work on the underside of the I-275 bridge over Osborne Avenue.
Effective today, northbound traffic on Florida Avenue will be detoured at Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue to Nebraska Avenue. Southbound thru traffic on North Florida Avenue is detoured at East Hillsborough Avenue to Nebraska Avenue. In light of the Tropical Depression 9, which appears to be bearing down on west coast of Florida, the maintenance of traffic subcontractor was forced to implement the detour early with knowledge that local crews will be pulled to wherever the storm lands early next week.
This new detour pattern is due to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) work on the underside of the I-275 bridge over Osborne Avenue. FDOT’s work will begin Monday, Sept. 26, and continue for at least two weeks. FDOT’s work will occur in the early evening to early morning.
Florida Avenue will remain closed through Oct. 7 as crews work to install stormwater infrastructure and replace a 12-inch water main between West Crest and East Frierson avenues.
La Segunda Bakery and Ready 2 Go Motors are accessible from the south side of the closure, via Osborne Avenue, northbound on Florida Avenue to West Crest Avenue. Spaddy’s Coffee, Vintage Post, Velvet Gypsy and Chocolate Pi are still accessible via southbound Florida Avenue from Hillsborough Avenue. Forever Beautiful Salon is accessible via Suwanee and Frierson avenues.
Please use caution and follow all posted signs in the construction zone. Thru-traffic motorists should follow all posted detours.
