Crews are Restoring Southbound Central Avenue

Crews are rebuilding the southbound, westernmost lane of Central Avenue between Giddens and Wilder avenues. Traffic has been shifted to the east side of the road between Hillsborough and Wilder and remains southbound only.

Residents along Central Avenue have received door hangers notifying them of driveways being inaccessible beginning Monday, Jan. 23. Driveways will be affected for two to three days at a time while road rebuilding is directly in front of homes. During this time, residents are asked to park elsewhere between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily; residents may use the parallel parking spaces on the east side of Central Avenue.

Road base and the concrete separator between the asphalt and pavers should be installed over the next two weeks, after which the first layer of asphalt will be installed on the west (southbound lane). A paver crew will install pavers in the parking spaces on the west side of the road. This work is scheduled to be complete mid- to late March.

If you have mobility issues and need assistance accessing your home during the day (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.), a golf cart is available to transport you. Please ask a crew member to put you in touch with a foreman in the field for assistance. If you do not see a crew member, you may call the project hotline at 813-580-5313.
